Meizu Pro 7 Plus teardown to reach the secondary screen remove the main screen

The Meizu Pro 7 Plus is cool, but it has two screens that might break and need replacing. How hard could it be? Well, someone took the time to take one apart, so we can find out!

The front seems to come off easily enough, though you need to watch out for the ribbon cable for the main Super AMOLED screen and the one for the mTouch fingerprint reader. The motherboard below is C-shaped, surrounding the 3,500mAh battery from three sides.

Plunging deeper, you’ll have to pop off the connector for the secondary screen, which is a ccessible from the front. The motherboard can come off now, but there’s still some way to go before we reach the rear screen.

Still, while we’re here, lets check out the sights. The Meizu Pro 7 Plus uses a 10nm MediaTek Helio X30 chipset and Samsung-made memory â€" LPDDR4 and UFS2.1.

Removing the loudspeaker and then the battery finally clears the way to the secondary AMOLED screen. Things seem pretty well glued down, however. Interestingly, the secondary screen has a slight curve on one side, to fit with the rest of the back.

This setup (while cool) won’t win the Pro 7 a high repairability mark - changing the rear screen will always require removing the main screen first. The excessive glue usage doesn’t help either.
